Bliss- Vani Satya Akula

Bliss is a painting in progress of multiple canvases, each of which draw the viewer into a peaceful scene which makes them pause and contemplate. A moment of consciousness, of being in the present, where the stress of a fast paced life fades. One finished 36 x 48 inch oil painting on linen, portrays Buddha with hands positioned in a blissful and profound state of meditation, surrounded by beautiful flowers representing temptations in the world. Other paintings are works in progress of a backdrop of ancient murals , fading, lost in the glamor of a bright new still life. Is this the new age of consciousness or a world that has lost touch with it's ancient wisdom?

Bio-

Vani Satya Akula is an artist from Horseheads, NY. Art for her is as important as breathing. She has been trained in dance and art while simultaneously pursuing a career in Science. In 2008, she took the leap of faith and has been pursuing her career as a professional artist. Stilllife paintings of Vani have hidden meanings, either with the colors, the choice of objects or their placement. Each painting provides a bridge to her rich cultural heritage. It is a challenging job to present a story to an audience sans context. Emphasizing color, texture and composition she lets her audience derive their own story and context.

Illumination- Dennis Nielsen (Brad)

This is one of my favorite photographs taken while on a pilgrimage to Israel. Every church was beautiful. Every church was unique. I love the light that surrounds the dove.

Bio-

Art is a member of our family. He always traveled with us wherever we went. He never missed a vacation to the beach, forest, or the city. Our lives together always centered on Art. We all shared a common affection for him. It only made sense for him to become a focal point of our life once my wife and I retired. Art placed a camera in my hand, and whipped my interest into a passion. Art renewed my wife's lifelong love of watercolor painting. Art has introduced us to the local art community, and provided us with inspiration to participate in many community events. Thank God for Art!
